Our Founder
Ursula began the Everett Area Chapter of Self Help for Hard of Hearing people in the fall of ’92 after attending a regional convention in Portland. Meetings were held in her large comfortable home where she provided refreshments, as well as being in charge of the programs. To further communication for those who could not understand, a flip chart was used. Ursula covered everything that anyone expressed an interest in, as well as introducing new topics and encouraging feedback from the group members. Ursula tirelessly led our chapter as President for 3 years. She took us from flip charts to Real Time Captioning and an FM system to assist people to hear and understand better. In 2006 SHHH became Hearing Loss Association of America and our chapter changed its name to Hearing Loss Association of Snohomish County. |
